Fashion Ad Flashback - 2000 Yves Saint Laurent Ad Starring Sophie Dahl

In 2000, Tom Ford's advertising campaign for the YSL fragrance Opium stirred serious controversy. The image of Sophie Dahl painted white wearing only a necklace and a piar of heels was shot by Steven Meisel and at the time... was the most complained about advertisment in the Advertising Standards Authority's history. Shortly after the ads began to appear the media watchdog ordered of the billboard adverts to be taken down because they were "degrading" to women and offensive.

Christian Louboutin Loses 1st Round Of Red Sole Lawsuit‎

Legal teams for Christian Louboutin and Yves Saint Laurent have been battling it out in a New York courtroom ever since Louboutin announced that he was suing the famous French fashion house for ripping off his famous red-sole trademark. This week a judge denied Christian Louboutin's request for a preliminary injunction against YSL.

The million-dollar suit for "trademark infringement, unfair competition and false designation of origin" was filed in April claiming that a series of YSL heels from the 2011 resort collection would mislead consumers familiar with Louboutin's famous scarlet soles.

On Wednesday, US District Judge Victor Marrero ruled that Louboutin -- even if widely recognized for its use of red under the shoe -- could not stop competitors like YSL from doing the same thing.

"Because in the fashion industry color serves ornamental and aesthetic functions vital to robust competition, the court finds that Louboutin is unlikely to be able to prove that its red outsole brand is entitled to trademark protection" - Judge Victor Marrero

An attorney for Louboutin told the press that the designer was "profoundly disappointed" and that they "are currently evaluating all alternatives."

However, it's not over yet. While Judge Marrero has ruled the sale of YSL's shoes can go ahead in the short term, he has asked for more time to consider a verdict, ordering both parties back to court next week.

Linda Evangelista Wants Child Support From Francois-Henri Pinault

Linda Evangelista reportedly shocked Manhattan Family Court on Monday, when she asked Francois-Henri Pinault to pay $46,000 per month in child support.

Last month the fashion world gasped when it was revealed that PPR CEO Francois-Henri Pinault fathered Linda Evangelista's 4-year-old son Augustin James. The French businessman is the CEO of the $28 billion conglomerate that owns Gucci, Bottega Veneta and Yves St. Laurent. He is also married to actress Salma Hayek and together they have a 3-year-old daughter, Valentina.

Linda Evangelista told the Manhattan courtroom that Pinault has yet to pay child support and she is going to need $46,000 a month to pay for nannies and armed chauffeurs to take care of her son. Support Magistrate Matthew Troy told the supermodel, "That would probably be the largest support order in the history of the Family Court." Later, the judge inquired about Evangelista's current employment, to which she responded "On days when I do not work, I am working on my image. I have to hit the gym. I have beauty appointments. I have to work toward my next job and maintaining my image, just like an athlete."

Didn't he know that he was speaking with the woman who once declared that she doesn't "wake up for less than $10,000 a day"?

Kate Moss Marries Jamie Hince In John Galliano Wedding Gown

Kate Moss married rocker Jamie Hince in the English village of Southrop earlier today. The fashion world has been speculating about Kate's dress for weeks... after the church ceremony the bride happily posed outside wearing a custom John Galliano wedding gown.

Kate's sleeveless vintage-style gown was embellished with delicate rhinestones and featured beautiful gold stud details. The supermodel completed her wedding day look with a simple bracelet, a vintage-style veil that covered a satin and lace-trimmed headband studded with flowers and a pair of Manolo Blahnik heels which had been reported to include "something blue". The groom wore a custom Stefano Pilati for Yves Saint Laurent pale blue suit.

Wearing a design by the disgraced couturier was a bold move... but it was surely an acknowledgement of their friendship and that John was there for Kate during her cocaine scandal a few years ago.
