Tyson Beckford rose to fame and became a top male supermodel in the 1990s, starring in numerous high profile ad campaigns. This 1995 fall/winter ad for Polo Ralph Lauren was one of many that the Jamaican-Panamanian-Chinese heritage model shot for the label after his career exploded in 1994.
Tyson soon landed an exclusive multi-year contract with Ralph Lauren and he was praised by the designer for his "all-American look with a dramatic edge". Lauren claimed that Tyson: "conveys power, style and intelligence in a very exciting way".

In 1996 Bruce Weber shot the first ad campaign for Polo Jeans by Ralph Lauren. The fall/winter ads featured Jamaican-Panamanian-Chinese heritage model Tyson Beckford, whose modelling career had exploded after appearing in the high profile Polo Sport ad campaign in 1994.
