10. Versace for H&M madness
[Above: Who expected the global hysteria surrounding the debut collection of Versace for H&M? Ummm... everyone.]
Forget the Missoni for Target collaboration that famously crashed target.com... the craziest fashion collaboration of 2011 had to be the Versace for H&M extravaganza that hit stores on Saturday November 18th. After months of serious hype, Donatella's vintage Versace-inspired collection hit select H&M stores across the globe. Celebs wearing the most sought after pieces, overnight lineups, in-store madness and eBay markups followed. Viva Versace!

In 1990 designer Thierry Mugler shot supermodel Naomi Campbell sporting a long blonde wig for his spring/summer ad campaign. The shots were dark, sexy and a little mysterious... totally Thierry Mugler.

Milan Fashion Week finished last Tuesday and the next day the boys started walking down the runways in Paris showing off upcoming fall fashions.
Here's a look at some of the highlights from Paris Fashion week.
Wednesday June 22, 2011 and Thursday June 23, 2011
(L-R: Mugler, Louis Vuitton, Balmain and Jean Paul Gaultier)
Mugler creative director Nicola Formichetti presented his sophomore men's collection on Thursday afternoon in Paris... campy costumes (with little sidewalk appeal) dominated the runway. Classics-with-a-twist dominated the runway at the 2012 spring/summer Louis Vuitton runway presentation. Jean Paul Gaultier's quirky 2012 spring collection for men featured an abundance of Hawaiian prints... some cool... some questionable.
Friday June 24, 2011
(L-R: Givenchy, Yves Saint Laurent and John Galliano)
Riccardo Tisci offered bold patterns on many of the pieces within the 2012 spring/summer Givenchy collection. Stefano Pilati’s Yves Saint Laurent collection was filled with strong-shouldered tailoring in navy, white and khaki. Disgraced John Galliano's successor, Bill Gaytten, offered a stomp through the Pop Art scene of London in the 60s for the spring/summer John Galliano collection.
Saturday June 25, 2011 and Sunday June 26, 2011
(L-R: Dior Homme, Hermès, Lanvin and Paul Smith)
Kris Van Assche celebrated "the art of tailoring" with a Dior Homme collection that was heavy on cream suits that looked like toiles. Hermès offered relaxed dressing with a sophisticated touch. Alber Elbaz presented a Lanvin spring/summer collection for men that mixed military and bohemian styles. Paul Smith offered a sporty touch with their 2012 spring/summer collection.

He has thousands of admirers across the globe fawning over him on his Facebook and Twitter pages... and he's one of fashion's most unexpected muses. Montreal's Rick Genest (also known as Zombie Boy) is the talk of the fashion world thanks to Nicola Formichetti.
After being appointed the new creative director for Thierry Mugler, Nicola discovered Rick on Facebook and quickly annointed him his menswear muse. Rick went from obscurity to fashion fame in no time.
In January the totally tattooed 25-year-old walked the Paris runway for the Mugler menswear show... a show that was based heavily around him. The collection was met with mixed reviews but the fashion world was fascinated by the star's macabre body artwork... so was Lady Gaga. On February 28th Gaga released her "Born This Way" video featuring the tattooed model. In the video the pop singer can be spotted copying Rick's skeletal body art wearing makeup to replicate his freaky tattoos. Days later Rick walked alongside Lady Gaga in the Mugler 2011 fall/winter womenswear runway show in Paris.
Now the Montreal-native is appearing in the Mugler 2011 fall/winter men's ad campaign. Here's a look at the black and white snaps that were taken by Mariano Vivanco.
One of the most fashionable weeks in Paris took over the city from Tuesday March 1st until Wednesday March 9th. Here is a quick look at 10 collections that you should know about.

Christian Dior
Friday March 4, 2011

Prior to the runway show on Saturday Dior president Sidney Toledano told fashion watchers that “it has been deeply painful to see the Dior name associated with the disgraceful statements attributed to its designer, however brilliant he may be.” The garments were pretty but the theatrics of Dior disappeared. There was no mention of John Galliano... in fact the seamstresses and craftsmen of the Dior studio appeared on stage at the end of the runway show for a bow.

Jean Paul Gaultier
Saturday March 5, 2011

Jean Paul Gaultier sent out a collection on threads that seemed to be inspired by the bourgeois on Saturday. Models strutted the runway wearing grey bouffant wigs and sophisticated and oh so feminine pieces.

John Galliano
Sunday March 6, 2011

After all of the controversy through the last few weeks the John Galliano runway extravaganza was cancelled and replaced with a quieter presentation. The collection of silver screen-inspired eveningwear was truly exquisite. Whether the John Galliano label will go on remains to be seen.

Givenchy
Sunday March 6, 2011

Riccardo Tisci’s fall collection for Givenchy was as intriguing as it was baffling. The odd beautifully feminine pieces were over-shadowed by dark and confusing prints and cuts.

Karl Lagerfeld’s volcanic themed runway show for Chanel at the Grand Palais in Paris was one of the fashionable highlights of the week. Tweed, flat shoes, pleats, wide cropped jackets and dramatic capes in grey, black and white dominated the runway. Baptiste made a predictable appearance.

Sarah Burton’s fall collection for Alexander McQueen was an ode to “The Ice Queen and Her Court.” An exquisite collection of aggressive silhouettes with a limited palette of white, black and lilac. Simply stunning.

Louis Vuitton’s upcoming fall collection is all about overt luxury and overt sexuality. The highlight of the runway show? Kate Moss dramatically closed the show wearing a lamb and rubber jacket, retro shorts, knee-high crocodile boots, gloves and a cigarette in hand.
