Trends, trends, trends! Here's a look at 5 different trends that dominated the red carpet at the 69th annual Golden Globe Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday night.

Shades Of Blue:

2012 Golden Globe Trends - Blue

Recently New York's bridal fashion week took over the city and designers including Badgley Mischka, Carolina Herrera, Marchesa, Monique Lhuillier, Romona Keveza and Oscar de la Renta sent gorgeous fairy-tale creations down the runway. Vera Wang, arguably the queen of the bridal couture world, shocked a lot of fashion watchers and wedding fanatics by breaking tradition and presenting a bridal collection that was filled with non-traditional tones like nude and black.

Vera Wang's show notes for her fall 2012 bridal showcase read "Witchcraft" and the designer sent an army of models down the runway wearing dramatic nude and black wedding gowns that dazzled and shocked. Striking creations of draped tulle and deconstructed chiffon, each with intricate details in organza or lace appliqués.

"I found black to be fresh and tongue in cheek. With all the big weddings that happened this year, it was fun to step out of the box. I did take it to a witchy kind of place. For me, it helped build a sense of mystery that I was hungry for. And it added this sensuality and sexuality, and a little bit of severity, too." - Vera Wang

This isn't the first time that the designer has broke from tradition. In the past Vera Wang has showed off romantic creations in green, blue, purple and dove grey.

Here's a look at Vera Wang's dark wedding dresses from her fall 2012 bridal collection.

New York's most fashionable week took over the city from Thursday February 10th until Thursday February 17th. The runway was a mix of metallics, brights, neutrals and elaborate details. Here is a quick look at 15 collections that you should know about.

Christian Siriano
Thursday February 10, 2011

NYFW - Christian Siriano - FW 2011

On Thursday evening Christian Siriano presented a fall/winter collection that was inspired by nature and was predominately all black. Of course there were hints of charcoal, mauve and moss. Oversized jackets, masculine cuffed pants and gorgeous silk organza gowns all came down the runway - the show was a wonderful combination of red carpet ready and affordable looks. The evening was also a preview of Christian’s new accessories that he created for Payless. Towering platforms with metal embellishment made quiet the impact... especially after one of the models took a nasty spill on the runway.

Jason Wu

NYFW - Jason Wu - FW 2011

Inspired by Versailles, Jason Wu presented a fall/winter collection that was filled with sophisticated pieces on Friday afternoon. Jason claimed the the garments paid tribute to Michelle Obama for being "a fan" and giving him worldwide exposure by wearing his designs. The runway was filled with modern (yet wearable) pieces that featured lace, crystal and feather details. A gorgeous red evening gown complete with a patterned gold belt stole the show.

One of my favourite Canadian designers, Kimberley Newport-Mimran, debuted her upcoming fall/winter collection during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. The intimate presentation showed off classic pieces that were designed with a twist. Oh so preppy frocks, a fuchsia ostrich feather skirt, mohair knits and fur-trimmed tailored coats all made a very fashionable impact.

Victoria Beckham

NYFW - Victoria Beckham - FW 2011

Six seasons into her fashion career, Victoria Beckham is the ultimate example of a successful crossover. Victoria continued to impress fashion watchers with the debut of her impressive 2011 fall/winter collection on Sunday morning. A continued relaxation of silhouette and a colour palette of "desert brights" dominated the presentation. New this season... the addition of outerwear.

The Row
Monday February 14, 2011

NYFW - The Row - FW 2011

The Row, by Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, is minimalist luxury at it's best. The twins presented a surprising collection of glamorous separates on Monday morning in New York. Of course the abundance of over-the-top fur won't win them any points from PETA... but the addition of handbags and shoes will definitely please fans of the label.

--

Carolina Herrera
Monday February 14, 2011
www.carolinaherrera.com

NYFW - Carolina Herrera - FW 2011

Carolina Herrera's fall/winter collection was a return to the designer's chic signatures with a runway filled with pieces that were simple and to the point. The inspiration? Glamorous women of the black and white cinematic era. Assertive... but elegant silhouettes dominated the runway.

--

Monique Lhuillier
Monday February 14, 2011

NYFW - Monique Lhuillier - FW 2011

Moody and sophisticated? Monique Lhuillier took a break from her famed flowing, feminine silhouette’s and presented a fall/winter collection that was dark, sensual and sultry. The runway was dominated by black, grey and cream colours. The occasional leopard print offered a nice break. The pieces ranged from chic blouses and pants to cocktail dresses and red carpet gowns.

Betsey Johnson
Monday February 14, 2011
www.betseyjohnson.com

NYFW - Betsey Johnson - FW 2011

Betsey Johnson always manages to get the crowd going at her runway presentations and her "He Loves Me/He Loves Me Not" show was no different. The first pieces down the runway under the "He Loves Me Not" motto included leopard print and plaid... all worn by models with dark, bluntly cut hair. The "He Loves Me" section featured models (actual Betsey Johnson employees in all shapes and sizes) wearing blond wigs and wearing brighter, lighter prints and sequined baby doll dress... all under $100.

Marc Jacobs
Monday February 14, 2011
www.marcjacobs.com

NYFW - Marc Jacobs - FW 2011

Marc Jacobs' grand Monday night runway show featured a fully mirrored runway lined with padded columns. Model strutted the super slick runway showing off pencil skirts, sheer tops and lacy cocktail dress. Most interesting/confusing was probably the terrycloth Dalmatian-spotted dress. The cost of the over to top production? According to Robert Duffy, president of Marc Jacobs... "at least $1 million" or basically $1,750 a second.

Vera Wang
Tuesday February 15, 2011
www.verawang.com

NYFW - Vera Wang - FW 2011

Vera Wang wrote in her show notes that she was inspired by stylish American women such as Lady Emerald Cunard and Wallis Simpson, who mixed with English aristocracy in the 1930s. The pieces coming down the runway included fur-trimmed satin parkas, sleeveless coats and vests and a dozen variations on the same chiffon multi-pleated and tucked dress.

Rodarte

NYFW - Rodarte - FW 2011

Designing sisters Laura and Kate Mulleavy sent a fall/winter collection of straightforward styles down the runway on Tuesday afternoon. Their inspiration came from the Great Plains and the film Days of Heaven. Prairie girl looks consisted of layers of different textures and fabrics that were matched with pretty serene colours.

--

Jeremy Scott
Wednesday February 16, 2011

NYFW - Jeremy Scott - FW 2011

Jeremy Scott called his 90's inspired fall/winter collection the the Candyflip collection. The designer once again proved that he doesn't take himself too seriously... he took cheap shots at Coke, milk and Superman with super quirky, playful attire.

--

Marchesa
Wednesday February 16, 2011

NYFW - Marchesa - FW 2011

For their fall/winter collection Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig looked for inspiration from Charles Dickens and Great Expectations. A magical collection of fairy tale gowns... over-the-top creations that are certain to pop up on the Oscar red carpet in a few weeks.

--

Ralph Lauren
Thursday February 17, 2011
www.ralphlauren.com

NYFW - Ralph Lauren - FW 2011

A glossy black runway was absolutely perfect and helped showcase the striking fall/winter Ralph Lauren collection. The designer explained that the pieces were inspired by a mix of influences. "I have always loved the glamour and sophistication of the 1930's and its Art Deco and Chinoiserie influences. I see it as relevant and modern now."

--

Calvin Klein
Thursday February 17, 2011
www.calvinklein.com

NYFW - Calvin Klein - FW 2011

Francisco Costa's women’s collection for Calvin Klein was the last major show of New York Fashion Week and it was everything one would expect from the label. Minimalist chic pieces that were loosely based on Mod styles (and inspired by a teddy bear) made their way down the runway in soft, muted shades of grey, camel and white. Minimalist sophistication.

The next stop for fashion editors? It's off to London, then Milan and Paris for more runway shows.

The 17th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards was a little more tame than past years but the red carpet still brought out a few ladies who dazzled and a few ladies who underwhelmed.

So which celebs made the best dressed list...?

2011 SAG Awards - Best Dressed

Mila Kunis looked absolutely incredible wearing a strapless gown from the 2011 Alexander McQueen resort collection, Natalie Portman showed off her baby bump wearing a white strapless Azzaro gown, Sofia Vergara was super sexy wearing a plunging royal blue Roberto Cavalli gown and Angie Harmon wore a very feminine princess gown courtesy of Monique Lhuillier.

For the full low-down on who I thought looked stunning on the SAG red carpet click here.

And the worst dressed...?

2011 SAG Awards - Worst Dressed

Helena Bonham Carter returned to the red carpet wearing a doily-inspired dress and matching heels, Melissa Leo wore a tacky Randi Rahm metallic gown, Nicole Kidman underwhelmed wearing a black Nina Ricci dress with sloppy lace insets and Kate Mara wore a confusing Hervé Leger dress with miss-matched headband.

For the full low-down on who I thought particularly under-whelmed on the SAG red carpet click here.

Who was your favourite (or least favourite) celeb on the red carpet of 17th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards?

Trends, trends, trends! Here's a look at 5 different trends that dominated the red carpet at the 68th annual Golden Globes:

Pretty In Pink

2011 Golden Globes Trends - Pink

From vibrant to pale... lots of ladies opted to wear a shade of pink down the Globe red carpet. Pink dresses were worn by Lea Michel (Oscar de la Renta), Natalie Portman (Viktor & Rolf), Megan Fox (Armani Prive), Sandra Bullock (Jenny Packham), Emma Stone (Calvin Klein), Claire Danes (Calvin Klein) and Julianne Moore (Lanvin).

It is certain to be the wedding of the century and all eyes will be on the dress.

Who will design Kate Middleton's wedding dress when she walks down the aisle to marry Prince William next year? While British gamblers are betting on Bruce Oldfield... WWD asked 29 different designers from Karl Lagerfeld to Vera Wang to sketch their ideas for Kate Middleton's wedding dress.

Though it’s unlikely they’ve hit on the winner... here's a look at 15 of my favourite sketches.

Karl Lagerfeld suggests a Chanel take on "the Victorian wedding dress, with a twist — high boots and open in the front."

Day 5 of New York Fashion Week was filled with high profile red carpet designers. Here's a look at the 2011 spring/summer collections from Carolina Herrera, Monique Lhuillier, Betsey Johnson and Marc Jacobs.

Show: Carolina Herrera
Location: Theatre
Date and Time: Monday September 13, 2010 - 10:00am

Carolina Herrera - 2011 Spring Collections

Floral prints for spring 2011 are definitely a trend we have seen at New York Fashion Week and no one had more flowers that Carolina Herrera. This was Carolina Herrera so the botanical prints were beyond tasteful. Also spotted on the runway... cinched waists and giant bows as belts, bold lipstick colours, folds and sophisticated details. The interesting final gown seemed to combine so many styles but in her notes Herrera claimed: "the cut and details of this collection were inspired by traditional clothes from Korea".

Monique Lhuillier - 2011 Spring Collections

Monique Lhuillier definitely delivered a pretty and glamorous 2011 spring/summer collection that will delight her loyal customers. A lovely cherry blossom print on silk appeared on many different pieces. My favourites included a demure mint green concoction, the sparkling gold gowns and the flamboyant ballgowns.

Betsey Johnson - 2011 Spring Collections

Spring is going to be all about bright colours, a little camp, a little grunge and a lot of fun according to Betsey Johnson! Candy colours, ruffles and skateboards dominated the runway. After the final dress Betsey rode out on a pink bike before performing her signature cartwheel. Will the bright collection help bail the designer out of her financial troubles? Time will tell... but Betsey reassured reporters that in her world "you got to give the girl something her closet doesn't already have".

Marc Jacobs - 2011 Spring Collections

Marc Jacobs found inspiration from the 70's for his 2011 spring/summer collection. The designer sent his models down the runway with gorgeous gold glitter platforms and frizzy hair wearing garments with vibrant colours and super bold prints. Halter dresses and strapless jumpsuits were among the stand out pieces created by the cooler than cool designer.

There is no doubt about it. The annual Academy Award red carpet is the most watched fashion event across the globe. While it is one of my craziest nights… I am typing like a mad man preparing best and worst dressed lists to get up promptly… it is also one of my favourite nights. I just love watching the red carpet… seeing which actresses will wear the most glamorous designer gown… seeing which actress will earn the title of "best dressed".

Every year I watch and select my best dressed and worst dressed ladies for Sympatico… so who made the best dressed list this year at the 82nd annual Academy Awards?

2010 Oscar Red Carpet - Best Dressed

Jennifer Lopez looked incredibly glamorous in a stunning pale pink Giorgio Armani Prive gown with Swarovski crystals; Best Actress winner Sandra Bullock looked absolutely stunning in a floor-length metallic and lace Marchesa gown; The incredible Penelope Cruz looked outstanding in a deep burgundy satin dress by Donna Karan; One of my all time fave red carpet celebs Demi Moore looked incredible in her pale and dramatic Versace gown; Anna Kendrick looked absolutely glamorous in a off the shoulder Elie Saab couture gown; Amanda Seyfried looked like a princess in this icy strapless Armani Prive creation; Vera Farmiga wore one of the most dramatic in a fabulous fuchsia ruffled gown by Marchesa; Last year’s Best Actress winner, Kate Winslet looked elegant and sophisticated walking the red carpet in a metallic Atelier Yves Saint Laurent gown; Kristen Stewart looked absolutely gorgeous in a navy silk organza Monique Lhuillier gown; Cameron Diaz was simply dazzlilng in a champagne Oscar de la Renta strapless gown.

To check out my best dressed picks for Sympatico and my full thoughts on their glam gowns click here!

Now... who made the worst dressed list at the 82nd annual Academy Awards?

2010 Oscar Red Carpet - Worst Dressed

Fashionable favourite Sarah Jessica Parker walked the Oscar red carpet in a confusing pale yellow Chanel haute couture gown and a frizzy bouffant do; Avatar actress and red carpet fashionista Zoe Saldana wore a questionable over-the-top Givenchy haute-couture tie-died gown; Charlize Theron wore a strapless Christian Dior dress with croissant style rosettes on the breasts; Diane Kruger wore an awkward and frilly Little Boo Peep Chanel gown; Carey Mulligan dissed Anna Wintour’s advice and opted for a black Prada gown with embellished charms of knives, forks and scissors; Deborah Ann Woll underwhelmed in a dull and drab lilac gown; Winning Director Kathryn Bigelow wore a tired Mother of the Bride gown; The eccentric Maggie Gyllenhaal wore an interesting Dries van Noten gown with a summery print; Little Miley Cyrus wore a plunging Jenny Packham dress that she just couldn’t fill.

For my complete worst dressed list on Sympatcio and to find out why I dissed these gals click here!

And that’s the wrap on the red carpet for another Oscar year. Hard to believe! What did you think about this year’s Oscars? More importantly what did you think of this year's Oscar red carpet?

Date and Time: Monday February 15, 2010 - 3:00pm

Monique Lhuiller always delivers the ultimate in Hollywood glamour so I knew the 2010 fall/winter collection was going to be filled with gorgeous red carpet gowns. The collection, shown earlier today, was apparently inspired by Chinese warriors... which explains the edgy vibe that many of the pieces had. There were flowing full lengths gowns as expected but there were also some very interesting short dresses as well as many pieces with interesting details thrown in... the extra details totally helped bring the warrior theme to the surface. Vibrant shades of red, lace chiffon and tulle detailing... it was all there.

A very different Monique Lhuiller than we are used to seeing. Not a lot of gowns you would picture a woman wearing down the aisle... but definitely interesting pieces that will grab fashion watchers attention in the coming months.
