Every year, fashion watchers freak out waiting for the September issues of their favourite magazines. The reason? The competition for the cover is insane and the actual issues are usually the biggest of the year. While 2010 features some slightly slimmed down fashion mags due to the economy, it's still exciting because this marks the beginning of a new year for fashion.
The September issues are finally all out and since half of the anticipation is over the actual cover... here is a look at the covers of some of the most important fashion magazines.
Interesting news for the Canadian magazine industry this afternoon. FASHION Magazine confirmed that editor Ceri Marsh, who is currently on maternity leave, has resigned from the magazine. Bernadette Morra, who has been the acting editor in chief of FASHION Magazine since the November 2009 issue, takes over effective immediately as the replacement for Marsh. Ceri, who has been the editor of the magazine since 2003, will be spending more time at home with her young family as well as joining a team of familiar faces who will be launching The Kit... a Canadian digital beauty and wellness magazine that will launch this September. In Ceri’s final issue (the October 2009 issue of FASHION Magazine) she wrote:
This is my last issue before I head off on a year-long maternity leave. I have the good fortune to be passing the reins to Bernadette Morra. Many of you will know her from her years as fashion editor at The Toronto Star. Bernadette is one of the smartest, most knowledgeable journalists in the business, as well as being funny and stylish—you’re going to love her. Apparently readers are loving her... plus the last few issue of the magazine have been outstanding. I’m definitely looking forward to even more Bernadette!
