A new billboard in China is causing outrage as it urges consumers to 'Feel the Romance of British Royalty'... using a lingerie-clad Princess Diana lookalike on the 13th anniversary of the death of Diana, Princess of Wales.

Diana died on August 31, 1997, in a car crash in a tunnel in Paris... and yesterday Jealousy International, a lingerie company, splashed the sure to be controversial adverts on billboards across China.

Here's a look at the ad that features "Diana" in a bra and panties playing a cello:

Diana Lingerie Advertisment

Britain has restrictions on the use of images of the Royal Family to promote products but is powerless to act against companies doing so abroad. The Royal Family has yet to comment on the ads. In the meantime... what do you think? Is is totally tasteless to use a lingerie-clad Princess Diana lookalike to sell underwear? I say hell yes... but let me know what you think.

luv d's lingerie!!

Extremely Classless...and disgusting!!!!!

i think this add is discusting especially to princess dianas sons.she would never have put herself out there dressed like that when she was here.she had way more class than that and much more respect for herself and her family. i think it should be banned.

VULGAR NO RESPECT
RJ

Why do you think China implemented a one-baby/family policy years ago, Rob and NB? They know they are overpopulated! As well, they are the main contender for hacking into government computer programs that protect the likes of dim bulbs such as yourselves. When your ID is being used by someone else, or your money suddenly disappears from the bank, don't say you weren't warned. And if speaking plainly labels me as racist, fair enough. I hope you enjoy your lives when the islamists are harrassing you or the women in your family and the low-priced chinese companies have put you out of work - oh, wait, you probably are from China. I feel sorry for the Pandas!

Expect the Chinese have very different standards and views from North American's and most other parts of the world in terms of what is acceptable or not. While I may find this disrespectful and lacking good taste, it may well be that they believe to be conveying (the late) Diana in a positive light.

I wanted to just say the comment by Mardi makes that person a complete and uder asswhole.

Extremely bad taste!

I think she going to use the Bow for spear and shoot the little -------. And we all know Diana would not do this. So can we all just let this Di!!!
Belleville Ontario Canada is so beautiful this time of year.

Has anyone said anything about her awful cello technique?

Nothing Is wrong with this picture "woho are Royals"

what do you expect from money-hungry brainless
idiots? any grubby way to make a penny & they will do it/ they APPEAR to practise buddhism, taoism, & confucianism - but when it comes to money all ethics & morality go out the window/

Disgusting! Leave the Royal family alone and let Princess Diana rest in peace. This is soooo far from what she would have ever done! My goodness what length people will go to!

They use everything this days to make money so it is not surprise that they do not respect the soul of Diana! Did they ask Diana if she agrees of the look in the ad! No, so every one has respect to Diana must not buy such underwear.

JUST STOP BUYING ANY CHINESE MADE PRODUCTS .. THEY WILL GET THE MESSAGE LOUD AND CLEAR.

I STOPPED BUYING THEIR PRODUCTS A LONG TIME AGO ...

Of course this is (quite obviously) in very poor taste. However, what this ad is suggesting is, quite frankly, disheartening.

A Chinese company is blatantly showing its lack of respect for British Royalty. I am not a fan of monarchy, but I understand, as do many, that the British Monarchy represents British history and its people (yes, including its shortcomings, which are a part of Britain's history). This lingerie company has no business (pun intended) exploiting Princess Diana, who was a representative of her people and greatly mourned by not only Britain, but a significant portion of Western Society.

This company did either of 2 things: they exploited Princess Diana, fully aware of the crudeness and lack of respect their ad protrays; OR they did not realize the effect their ad would have, as they were attempting to be, say, whimsical about the British Monarchy.

If the first, I am appalled that a company (in foreign terms also representing China in this situation) has the audacity to be so obnoxious. If the second, I feel sorry that they are so simple-minded and unaware of how their actions affect people. I suspect the first. Both are terribly disrespectful.

I think it is disgusting it very bad taste...let Diana rest in peace....Having said that. and being in the sales field all my life...There is an old saying ...THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS BAD PUBLICITY.....Meaning this add , tastless as it is will generate sales..And the more people that make noise and complain about it the more sales the add will generate...and that my friends is the sick side of CAPITILISIM.

What a swell ad!
A somewhat seductively dressed woman and a very young prepubescent child.

Just what is the message they're trying to convey?

By the way, if she's offering cello lessons I would definitely be interested. Without the kid of course.

I think this is in very bad taste. It certainly would'nt make me want to buy the products

Can you imagine the uproar if the unauthorised image were that of a Hollywood star,a brigade of layers would be despatched immediately. No I am not in favour of such an add.

Well, I think it's a bad ad. The woman does not look like Diana and I find the woman quite unattractive. Also, she's holding the bow so poorly that you know she can't play. So, for me, it doesn't sell the product. Here's a woman pretending to be something that she's not, pretending to do something that she can't. It's just a bad ad and doesn't remotely make me want to buy the product.

The picture only resembles her if you think it does! So don't purchase any product and the add will go away!!!!!!!!!!! Jim-Bo

Very tasteless & disrespectful to Diana. How low can you go? Apparently, lower than low! If that's what a company has to do to make money, it shoulnd't be in business!

disgustingly tasteless. however, freedom of speech is important too.

Dirty photo of Diana and Shamful for Royal family

Hmmm...one comment removed for violation. I say add Huck's poetry in motion to the shredder too.

Get over it. "Lady" Diana has been dead for 13 years - she didn't show much respect or dignity in life so why should she deserve it now.

How would you all feel if your deceased relative was used to sell a product without your permission? Not one of you who thinks this is okay would allow or tolerate that. You'd be in your lawyers office ranting and raving with 20 minutes I am guessing and to those bleeding hearts out there, you'd probably be the ones who would demand the profits rather than pull the ad

Very poor taste, read the "Last Call To Witness" to find out who she really was

I don't like this add at all and very poor taste for sure, She was a beautiful kind lady and deserves more respect especially where her sons are concerned.

I see nothing wrong here, this is just a lookalike in an advertisement, Diana Spencer no longer exists, an image resembling her was used to sell a product. British law cannot be enforced in a foreign country. China never signed on to any international intellectual property copyright laws. Relax people most of the lingerie you wear was probably made in China anyways.

I don't think the image even resembles her...why do people insist on making this such an important issue in their own personal lives....and if to go as far as to say the child is one of her sons....people love drama!!!!

Utterly disgusting and tasteless, but what else can you expect from China!

jax

We wear other clothes as well as underwear of other people's name on them. The chinese brought Diana's memory back onn her anniversary. If they sold shirts or blouses then her name would be on that too. How many of you have been thinking about diana before this as came up. I bet not that many. Let the people live and let live. They have let us remember diana for who she was and what she did for this world.,........

The chinese simply do not have any respect for anything.

lower than a snakes tail to use her this way.....

Looks like anyone who disagrees gets deleted, so I'm sure this won't be here long. It's been over a decade - get over it. This ad is doing exactly what advertising is supposed to do.

Heartless in the extreme. And, not only does the ad exploit her own intimate privacy, but incorporates a look-alike for one of her young sons.

I would think most western women would be offended enough not to even consider wearing the company's products.

You bustard!
Can you find better way to make dirty money.

The person who made this ad/promotion has no heart and one of the stupid person on earth... Diana is a very great human being,,, and disrespecting her after death is crucial... I hate this designer .. hell with him/her...

Extrem poor taste, For a woman who dispite all odds became a spoke person for so many good things I feel that this is disrespectful. I hope that they are forced to remove and appologise.

Larry, you are a pathetic capitalist porker.

I hope her 2 sons sew the pants off these people how can they be so disrespectful towards a dead woman that would say definitly no to this terrible ad. I hope she comes back as a ghost and scare them out of there undies.

Pathetic bad taste. The ad company should be fired for lack of originality. Note: Janet Reger was the company that supplied underwear to Princess Diana.

It may be tasteless , but if I was still in the buiseness I would have the products in my store, because customers will demand them. I am not a judge, as a proprietor its my job to provide what the customer wants as long as its legal . Diana was not a saint, she was human like the rest of us, nobetter or worse. Larry

Totally Disgusting. She did so much good in her short life and she should be remembered for that. This is beyond tasteless.Everyone should boycott this company!!

Lady Diana Spencer is dead!! Why do people insist on exploiting her image for profit!!! God bless you Diana, you brought so much love and happiness to millions. Please let her rest in peace. Rob B. Toronto.

Wonder how they would feel if WE put up billboards of Chairman Mao in drag?

OMG!

Leave the woman be, I am sure her sons wouldn't appreciate this at all as they are her legacy and let her memory rest in peace!!

I WILL NEVER EVER BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS COMPANY.

DISGUSTING IN MORE WAYS THAN ONE!!!!!

Why are you posting it here to give it more airplay? You are responsible as much as the people that created the ad - which practically no one would see if it weren't for your assistance.

Pedophilia????

Yeah Jess, because it really looks like the model is engaging in a sex act with the child. I hope someone calls the cops on you next time you are near a child while wearing a bathing suit or underwear. BIZARRE! People, get your heads out of your *sses!!!!!

The ad is beyond poor taste, but also really bizarre. Who sits around in their underwear playing cello with their kid holding the music? The purpose of the ad, is publicity. Bad publicity is still publicity...maybe that's the angle.
As well, the comment that Kinney placed is irrelevant and offensive. Remove it.

This ad is in extreme poor taste - nothing else need be said!!!! Too bad people can't leave the dead at peace.

Nice comment Kinney....such a small world view. It is not the Chinese people, it is their government, as for too many of them, I'd take too many of them over too many people like you any day!

Tasteless is right. Couldn't they have found a better example of royalty than someone who bedded everyone from the butler to the Arab?

i think you should remove kinney's comment. it's more outrageous than the ad. Racist and hateful.

It is totally tastless, and without class. I love Princess Diana and as a British Citizen I am outraged that the Chinese are so uncaring, to a person who was so full of compassion for everyone. This ad should be stopped and whoever implemented it, should be fired. Especially as it is the 13th anniversary of her death, her family and the people of Britain would definitely not want her remembered this way. Shame, Shame, Shame on China.

the dirtbag who posed for this ad must have known what she was posing for. i wish women would learn to say no once in a while.

This image doesn't even make me want to buy lingerie!! Its rather sick don't you think? I'm positive that Princess Diana would never have condoned her image to this crap :( THAT was a woman of class....this is cheap theatricality and....ummmmm...pedophilia to boot >:( WTF!! This model is scantily clad in front of a child! I'd rather call the cops than the business.

THIS HORRIBLY BAD TASTE< Why do people try to tranish a beautiful person who tried to do so much good! This type of company should be ashamed!!

Well there must be an ambassador to China in UK is it not? I hope Royal family will use the appropriate pressure for this tasteless act.

Yet you post it here to profit by sell advertising. Such hypocrisy.

It certainly tateless and vulgar. First of all, the Princess of Wales is long dead, so her permission in using her personna in the ad is not granted and wouldn't have been. Secondly, isn't the fashion world full of female sex personnas that such a trashy use of a once symbol of elegance, beauty and simplicity is merciless to say the least...

she is my idol and always will be and I think this is just tasteless and ruthless for anyone to do this to such a kind hearted good person as lady Diana was...she wasn't trashy and would never pose like this
